Abhisikta Dey, a beauty parlour employee, was found dead at her home in Kestopur, North Kolkata, on the night of Friday, December 13. Her body was discovered by her husband, Buddhadev Saha, who returned home after work to find her lying face down on the bed. Police found that a blue scarf was tied around her neck, and a pillow had been placed over her face, indicating she had been strangled and suffocated.
The police launched an immediate investigation and confirmed that it was a murder. Within hours, they arrested Kaushik Saha, the accused, from Madhughar in Dumdum. Authorities identified him as being in a relationship with Abhisikta for several months after they met through social media. Abhisikta, who had a four-year-old son, had reportedly been trying to end the affair, leading to a dispute with Kaushik.
According to police, the murder occurred on the morning of Friday, December 13, around 9 AM. Kaushik Saha is believed to have visited Abhisikta's house, where he allegedly strangled her with a scarf and suffocated her with a pillow. The body was sent for an autopsy, and forensic experts are assisting with the investigation.
Kaushik Saha has been charged with murder and was presented at Barasat Court on Saturday for legal proceedings. Police have also reviewed CCTV footage from the area to gather further information on the events leading to the crime. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities continuing to probe the full circumstances surrounding Abhisikta Dey's tragic death.
